    Description

    A finely woven and early example from San Diego County in southern California. The Diegueno's were on of the many so cal Mission tribes that are so named because of their geographical proximity to the old original California Missions established by the Spanish Catholic clergy. Just found in a local estate. The coil sizes are approx. 5-6 coils per inch and there are approx. 18-19 stitches per running inch. VERY FINE FOR A MISSION BASKET. Made of golden juncus and sumac on a deergrass coiled foundation coiling counter clockwise with loads of the fag ends visible. Suitable for any collection from advanced to museum grade, it has NO RESERVE !
