  • Condition: Good-Very Good overall vint cond: This wonderful early 20th c Nat American hnd-woven, open-top porcupine sloped basket, is fashioned out of splint ash wood & sweet grass. It was prod by the Micmac people from the Penobscot Bay, ME region. This was found w/other Nat Am Maine baskets, as well as early Inuit baskets. The bottom of the basket, as well as the woven sidewalls are all nearly intact & only suffer minimal loss. The looped 'porcupine' quills on the sidewalls are virtually damage free, less 1 quill. This early 20th c Native American Micmac hand-woven sewing/fruit basket, is still in good overall vint cond. It has its orig patina & nat aged, dry surface. The sidewalls are punctuated w/twisted, protruding highs (raised cleats) of the woven sweet grass. Great color & surfaces make this Micmac Native American basket an especially handsome one. The inside of the basket is clean, without any depreciating stains or loss. That's about it for damage. Structurally sound & intact. Nice.
