    Description

This is a fabulous antique Maine Indian fancy covered basket with curls made of splint and sweetgrass, circa 1900, or so. Basket is 9" in diameter and 4 1/4" high, and it has a ring top and 3 rows of curls. It is nearly mint with just a couple of the tips of the curls worn from age, as pictured. Inside you can see that some of the splint was dyed green, but has now faded to almost a golden yellow color, which is common with these commercial basket dyes from this period. This basket has a great presence and it was woven by a skilled basket maker. It was just found in New England. Shipping is .50 Priority mail. There is a 30 day money back inspection period, and email for more information. Thank you.
