  • Condition: Very Good-Excellent overall antique cond: Offered for your review & consideration is this very clean & very beautiful, well-pres, early 20th c Nat Am, SE tribes/Seminole Indian, hand-woven, tightly stitched pine needle gathering/sewing basket, feat coiled construction, w/a broad, sturdy rim. The basket was freshly picked from a home in southern NH, is estate fresh & new to the marketplace. It's unusual to find basketry made by Nat Americans in the northeast US, where it's far more common (& even that's fairly uncommon) to find Nat Am basketry made by 1 of any # of eastern woodland tribes, w/most being from coastal ME (those which have survived.) This particular tightly woven basket feats coiled construction & vert stitched, bound sidewalls, has a broad, sturdy coiled top rim & very tightly woven baseplate. It practically doesn't suffer any loss to its top or bottom & only has a few very minor 'touches' to its sidewalls. W/orig matte, dry surfaces & nat aged patina & colors. Very fine.
