Vintage Santone OSWALD THE LUCKY RABBIT
CUP & PLATE 1946 Warwick China
This plate has a transfer of Oswald in Center with Moe, Meany, Humpty Dumpty and Elmer around Rim. Hand painted green stripe around the rim.
It measures 7 '' Diameter.
It is a heavy Porcelain.
It is in very good condition there are no chips, cracks, stains or crazing.
The back of the plate is
MARKED SANTONE , WARWICK CHINA , 1946 , MADE IN USA.
The mug/cup is a Rare, Vintage 1946, Oswald Rabbit, SANTONE, WARWICK CHINA, a heavy china Mug featuring some of Oswald's Favorite Buddies.
Moe, Fi, and Oswald.
There is Bright Green Paint Trim on Rim and Handle.
This mug is in very good condition, there are no chips, cracks or crazing. There is an under-glaze trowel mark on the back lip of the mug and is shown in the pictures.
The bottom is clearly marked SANTONE WARWICK CHINA 1946 MADE IN U.S.A.
This mug stands 2 7/8" tall by 3.25" opening. 1.75" base, 4" across to the end of the handle.
Oswald the Lucky Rabbit was created in 1927 by Walt Disney with Ub Iwerks and the team through twenty-six cartoon shorts.
Not without fits and starts, the series and its impish title character were an instant hit with audiences.
At the end of that initial run, Walt lost the contract to Oswald, which prompted the creation of Mickey Mouse.
Over the years, Oswald became a footnote in the Disney story and is currently experiencing a revival.
